屋久島は大自然に囲まれており、人の数より自然界の生きものの方が多い島です。
Yakushima is surrounded by wilderness and has more natural creatures than people.
屋久島全域に言えることですが、ヤモリやアシダカ蜘蛛、アリやアブなどが 庭や家の中に出てくることがあります。
（ホテルなどでは強い殺虫剤を撒いているようですが、それでも出ます）
Geckos, lionfish spiders, ants and horseflies can be found in gardens and houses, as they are all over Yakushima.
(Hotels and other places seem to spray strong insecticides, but they still come out).
ヤモリや蜘蛛は家の守り神と言われており、蜘蛛は魔除け、ヤモリは幸運を呼び寄せると言われております。
Geckos and spiders are considered the guardians of the home; spiders are said to ward off evil and geckos bring good luck.
特にアシダカ蜘蛛は見た目が大きく怖いので、初めて見た方は驚かれるかもしれませんが、大人しく、毒も持っておらず、人に危害を加えることは決してありません。
The lionfish spider, in particular, looks big and scary and may surprise those who see it for the first time, but it is docile, has no venom and would never harm people.
蜘蛛の方も人を怖がっているので、脅かすと逃げてゆきますので、どうか殺さないで上げてください。
The spiders are also afraid of humans and will run away if you frighten them, so please do not kill them.
Please don’t kill them.
